The Human Zoo explored whatever makes us, well, human—our idiosyncrasies, foibles, and frailties.
These ceramic tiles were inspired by the notes Seget’s mother wrote while suffering from Alzheimer’s. Her mother’s struggle with memory loss and the child-like handwriting are poignant, as is her creative adaptation of Polish to write in English. For Seget, reading these notes became a kind of antivenin, helping her cope with her mother’s increasingly challenging behavior.
