Helena Seget (born 1959, lives and works in the UK) is an artist interested in cognitive functioning and how contemporary, artificial and urban environments impact our bodily senses. Her current work builds on her research with people who have a heightened sense of awareness – HSP (Highly Sensitive People)
Her immersive installations mix everyday physical environments with cues that enable the subconscious mind to register a space as safe, and remove those suggesting otherwise, thereby freeing up the viewers’ mind to explore without feeling overwhelmed. By meticulously thinking about the elements forming a living space, Seget questions the way our mind has had to quickly adapt to the artificial environments of urban areas in the past 300 years.
