Seget was commissioned to create a bespoke porcelain fireplace surround and hearth featuring paw impressions of her client’s six cats. She travelled to Chicago, where she captured the cats’ paw prints in clay and made plaster moulds on-site. These moulds were then shipped to her UK studio, where she used them to create custom porcelain tiles for the fireplace.
The project required careful planning, from calculating materials to managing the clay’s moisture levels, with the home’s underfloor heating adding complexity. Seget fondly recalls the experience, enjoying her time working with both the client and the cats.
